Conservatories Etc: Proud to be a Fully Accredited FENSA Member

23/09/2016

Windows, doors and rooflights must meet thermal performance and Building Regulation Standards. At Conservatories Etc, we are signed up to the Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme (FENSA), which means that every window and door that we install comes with a certificate affirming its compliance with all regulations. Here’s why it’s so important.

What is FENSA?

FENSA is a Government authorised scheme. It was set up by the Glass and Glazing Federation in response to changes in legislation regarding the replacement of windows. Being a fully accredited FENSA member allows us to self-certify that our window replacements meet the standards set by the relevant legislation.

Why choose a FENSA registered company?

If you have a window or door replaced by a glazier who is not FENSA registered, then you will have to register that installation with the local government yourself and arrange for its assessment by Building Control – a lengthy process that may cost you hundreds of pounds. FENSA withholds registration from ‘cowboys’ – anybody who cannot pass their installation inspections is banned from self-certifying.  FENSA registered members must be insured, they must offer protection for your deposit (so that you are guaranteed to get it back if the company goes bust before they have finished your job) and they must offer a guarantee for their work.

What does being FENSA registered mean to Conservatories Etc?

When our customers see the FENSA logo on our website, they know that our glaziers have been subjected to rigorous tests and on site inspections that ensure that all our installations meet the required standards. FENSA is a brand trusted by homeowners, business owners and the public sector.

A conservatory on a home

If you are having your windows or doors replaced, or having a large installation such as an orangery or a conservatory, make sure that the company you use is FENSA registered. It guarantees the quality of the work and gives you peace of mind. To arrange an appointment with one of our sales team call us on 01953 600505, or visit our showrooms in Wymondam and Diss.
