Installation of the Month: Gable Conservatory in Bury St Edmunds03/08/2016
We journeyed into Suffolk last month to complete a conservatory installation in the beautiful village of Bardwell near Bury St Edmunds. The July sun was shining and it was a pleasure to build this large gable conservatory that makes an elegant extension to the property.
At the request of the customer, the exterior and interior were to be different colours. For the outside, our customer opted for anthracite grey. The inside window frames are in a more traditional white. The double doors of the 5m x 5.5m conservatory open out into the large garden – a real suntrap.
We love it when a customer comes to us with their own ideas. For this installation, we were asked to affix HardiePlank to the dwarf walls of the conservatory to match an existing wing of the house. The interior of the conservatory was fully plastered as part of our service.
The roof is built from Pilkington Activ Glass in Aqua. This represents the latest in glazing technology. This glass is self-cleaning: because dirt can’t stick to it, the next rain shower will wash all but the most stubborn marks away. The glass also has hydrophilic properties. This means that when rain hits it, instead of forming into droplets, it will spread out evenly over the surface of the glass. The blue colour of the glass stops the conservatory from getting too hot during the summer, whilst still letting all the sunlight in.
This unique conservatory shows just how creative you can be with your conservatory design. At Conservatories Etc, we’ll work with you to design a conservatory that works for your home. From traditional to modern, we can create it.
