Mind Your 'P's and L's': Three Contemporary Conservatory Designs

22/03/2017

Three of our most contemporary designs are the Lean-to, the L-shaped and the P-shaped conservatories. Each have their own charms and they are suitable for different types of properties. In this week’s blog, we’ll take a closer look at the benefits of these three related, but very different and very modern, conservatory designs.

The Lean-to Conservatory

Perfect for smaller properties such as terraces, the Lean-to conservatory features a roof that slopes gently away from your property. One popular style is to have a large glass-walled room with the roof extended along the wall of your house to form a veranda.

The L-shaped Conservatory

An L shaped conservatory

This is an extension of the Lean-to style of conservatory. The L-shape is formed when the lean-to conservatory wraps around the corner of a house. Because these conservatories have more aspects – they will have a glass wall facing in all four possible directions – they are the perfect plant nurseries.

The P-shaped Conservatory

We can combine our conservatory designs to form larger spaces. The P-Shaped conservatory is formed by a lean-to design that is attached to one of our larger conservatories. From the top down, this combination looks like a letter P.

Build Process

All of our contemporary conservatories are built according to our four-step build process:

  1. We lay the foundations. This includes deep footings and a damp-proof membrane.
  2. We build the walls. These consist of the brickwork dwarf walls and the large windows.
  3. We install the roof. Ridge and glazing bars form the framework before we lock the glass panels in place.
  4. We add the finishing touches. Our fitters, plasterers and electricians ensure your new conservatory is ready for use.
