Ten Years of TrustMark: Delivering your Dream Home20/07/2016
Conservatories Etc recently became a member of TrustMark, the only government-endorsed scheme for all trades in and around the home. 2016 marks a milestone for TrustMark: they’re celebrating ten years of helping consumers find traders they can trust to work on their home. Funnily enough, 2016 marks ten years of trading for us at Conservatories Etc. That’s not all we have in common with TrustMark: we both believe in a job well done.
To mark their tenth anniversary, TrustMark spoke to thousands of small businesses and their customers about their experiences in the home repair, maintenance and improvement market. They wanted to build up a picture of what the UK’s tradespeople do, and how the industry contributes to our economy.
Investing in Home Improvements
TrustMark found that over a lifetime, homeowners spend an average of £23,000 on home improvements. The average household invests 15% of its annual household expenditure on home alterations and improvements, with about 60% of home improvement jobs costing over £1,000. The amount that homeowners invest in improving their home demonstrates how important our homes are to us. 12% of homeowners spent more than £5,000 on home improvements over the course of two years.
The cost of a conservatory or orangery is a significant investment, but they are well within most homeowners’ budget for home improvements.
Improving the Value of Your Home
Increasingly, people are choosing to improve the house they have rather than move. Good home improvements can significantly increase the value of your property, with some adding up to 21% to the value of a typical home. 42% of homeowners are planning to carry out home improvements in the hope of making their home worth more.
According to TV’s Phil Spencer, a conservatory can add around 7% to the value of your home.
TrustMark has spent the past ten years helping homeowners to get their dream home, and so have we. If you’re thinking about improving your home with a conservatory or orangery, give us a call on 01953 600505 or drop by our showrooms in Wymondham or Diss.
